Insights: Balancing Life

Morning is my favourite time of the day. The earth is still quiet and there is the promise of the day still ahead. I decided to take a mindful moment in my garden on this cooler Friday morning. I was drawn to the lavender and rosemary growing side by side, especially the lavender which is ready to be harvested. I spent some time connecting with the plant before cutting each stem and bringing in a bundle to dry. I left lots for the bees to keep enjoying, taking only what I needed.

Every week I write about a topic or theme, and I try to integrate it into what is happening in the world today and in my personal/professional life. I schedule the topics months in advance surrendering and allowing. I trust the content finds its way… in a way that has meaning to you…whenever that might be.

Our topic this week is Balancing Life. I was reminded of how quickly it is to lose oneself to tasks or projects that cause an imbalance in the mind, body, soul and spirit relationship.

Of course, there are times when you have to put in more energy into getting something done. However, if that pattern continues it is likely you will begin to experience resentment, irritation and anxiety, to name a few.

Our lives are precious. Living is precious. Creating and living a balanced life asks us to be truthful with ourselves about what feels good for us, while be aware of the effects our choices are having on those around us.  What I consider balanced may be different for you. We must be respectful towards ourselves and others, discerning with the heart.

What I’ve learned is that balancing life is ever changing. What I am aware of today is different from what I was aware of yesterday or years ago. I have learned that there are times when I cannot see that my life is unbalanced while I am living in that imbalance. That is one of the toughest places to be, because how can you change something you cannot see?

My gift to you today is to remember you are always doing the best you can. Balancing life is making room for laughter, playing, socializing, eating, connecting and working. It isn’t a scheduled thing, unless that works for you. Have a heart centered look at your life today. Is there anything missing? What can you do differently to restore inner outer balance?

Join me this Sunday and Monday for a Live ONLINE meditation class inspiring the restoration of balance in life.
