Winter, for me, always brings a cozy, get-things-done, energy. Sometimes it’s impossible to get out of the house due to weather, making it even easier to stay indoors. But before we know it, spring will be here and a new surge of energy will appear, calling us all outdoors. But for now, we have a few weeks of winter still remaining.

Natures Cycles

Mother nature gives us seasons and cycles to keep us aligned and present. Not only do we have four seasons, we have the monthly new and full moons. These can all act as sign posts for us as we shift accordingly to adapt to change. This a natural, intuitive process that may at times support our planning processes.

Have you noticed the cycles of the seasons and your own rhythm?

I invite you to check in with yourself and your own cycles. It can help to write down or record your patterns, making it easier to see them. It could be seasonal, weekly, monthly or daily. You may be suprised at the habits you discover, that are either healthy or unhealthy.

Seasonal cycles help us create and live a balanced life. They remind us to stay connected to nature, and the grounding presence we have available to us.  Let’s have a look at how you can check in with living a balanced life. Listed below is both signs you are out of balance and ways to get back into balance.

3 Signs you are out of Balance

  1. Constant Irritability or Overreaction

Small things feel overwhelming. You snap easily, feel defensive, or get emotional faster than usual. This often signals:

  • Emotional overload
  • Poor stress recovery
  • Lack of rest or boundaries

When you’re balanced, challenges feel manageable. When you’re not, everything feels personal.

  1. Ongoing Fatigue

You feel tired no matter how much you sleep. This can show up as:

  • Brain fog
  • Low motivation
  • Physical heaviness
  • Caffeine dependence

True balance supports steady energy, not spikes and crashes.

  1. Disconnected From Yourself

You move through the day on autopilot. You might notice you are:

  • Ignoring your own needs
  • Saying “yes” when you want to say “no”
  • Losing interest in things you normally enjoy
  • Feeling numb or unmotivated

Balance includes awareness and knowing how you feel and responding to it.

3 Ways to Get Back into Balance

  1. Regulate Your Body and Nervous System

Before changing your life, calm your body.

  • Slow breathing (inhale 3, hold 4, release to 7 – repeat)
  • A 5-10 minute walk without your phone
  • Stepping outside for natural light

Balance starts in the body. When your nervous system settles, your thoughts follow.

  1. Remove One Thing (Not Add One)

Most imbalance comes from overload.

Ask yourself:

  • What is draining me the most right now?
  • What one thing can I pause, delay, or say no to this week?

Instead of adding habits, remove pressure.

  1. Reconnect With One Basic Need

Check your foundations:

  • Sleep
  • Movement
  • Nutrition
  • Quiet time

Pick just one and improve it slightly today. Small corrections restore alignment faster than dramatic changes.

Make time for YOURSELF to RECONNECT so you live a BALANCED Life.
