Insights: Mind over Matter?
by Regina Kaiser.
Believing in ourselves and our reality begins with realizing we experience both negative as well as positive thoughts – always. Our mind continuously processes information as good or bad, right or wrong. Our awareness of these thoughts and the affects they have on how we experience our reality generates an action – to keep doing what we are doing, or to change.
We begin using positive affirmations, in the hopes of clearing away the negativity. This works for a while as people seem kinder, and we notice life in general is manifesting with ease. But sometimes, just as we get to a point of feeling confident and believing our positive attitude is working, something shifts and the entire positive self talk collapses. We find ourselves discouraged and questioning ourselves, wondering why we even bothered.
The truth is, as the observer we are aware of those thoughts. We can ask ourselves “Who is listening to and who is observing those thoughts? Our ego mind tries to convince us that self-concern is more important than self-awareness. This is creating out of fear and survival, rather than knowing. When we create in this way we are creating not as one, but out of separateness, an indication we are still seated in the mind. Self-concern is ego based, and self-awareness is spirit based. Self-awareness is being the witness, aware of the ego mind/body relationship.
Every thought begins on an energy level, the spiritual field of unlimited potentialities. But thoughts also work through the programming we’ve acquired through life experiences. Knowing what to believe can become distorted as we work our way to believing what we want to believe…and this is ego based.
Realizing we have an ego mind and spiritual body that are separate yet connected, means we are aware of the balancing act from within, as spirit. Herein is an even deeper truth. Believing in ourselves means opening up from the inside out, and embracing the truth of oneness and separateness, by not allowing the self to get lost in the ego mind or separate self. There is only one peaceful spirit having several human experiences.
When we believe, anything is possible.
