What’s Your Story?

Everyone carries a story inside themselves. Usually there are several stories, but one or two stories can actually keep you stuck. Your life story is the one you have lived through to become who you are today. It is the actual events of your life combined with your feelings and the lessons you’ve learned. These include ‘could have, should have’, ‘I wish I knew then what I know today’, ‘if only’ and ‘what if’.

Ever wonder how your life could have turned out differently?

Then you chalk it up to karma and accept things the way they are. But what if your karma is to change that story moving forward?
Now that I’ve got your attention, let’s have a look at what you can do differently.

To awaken is to recognize how your thoughts and feelings affect the life you are creating for yourself. Karma is simply your past actions affecting your current reality. That choice you made in the past, however big of small, affected your future. It’s important to remember there is no bad or good karma. Just cause and effect.

What if you could change your future story?

How to Make the Most Out of Your Story

You’ve done the best you could. Let’s move forward. When you witness your self-judging or self-criticizing thoughts, you have choice. You can keep them, discard them, or transform them.

Transformation is change.

Any thoughts that cause you to feel less about yourself are not aiding you in creating the story you truly want for yourself. They keep you stuck in a self-defeating karmic cycle. When you call yourself a failure, stupid or dumb, and feed anxiety born from excessive thinking, it sets you up to create experiences that support this belief of staying the same.

What if you could rewrite your future story?
Once you accept you can change, you can begin to create a different tomorrow. Not everything will change as quickly as you like, but it might happen faster than you ever expected. The secret is to believe you have the power within you to harness the lessons from your past to create a wise and knowing new you.

The Positive Side of Mistakes
Everyone makes mistakes. Mistakes are beautiful lessons to be learned. Some are more costly, financially and emotionally. But you have the choice to learn what to do with your lesson, and how you could do something differently the next time.

An example might be when you feel regretful about something you didn’t do. You realize the mistake was yours, and instead of feeling sorry for yourself, you decide the next time you will clear the feat and take appropriate action. Appropriate action reflect your intention and never causes harm to another. You have the choice to rewrite your internal story so you can hear how much you learned about yourself. It would go like this: “I can’t believe I just stood there and didn’t stand up for myself. Knowing how I feel right now, I will make a point of setting aside my fear and anxiety, or worry about upsetting the apple cart, and speak from my heart. I trust I have the courage and wisdom inside me”. Embracing Enthusiasm

So, how are you going to re-write your story?

Once things settle down and you are not as emotionally invested, you discover the story is easier to tell. Start to notice if the story you are telling yourself and others is truly reflecting how awesome you are. It’s in the past and can be retold as often as you wish, perhaps from a different perspective. Give yourself a pat on the back and move forward, with renewed enthusiasm. Open your heart and soul to a different outcome.

It’s up to you.
