Are you Emotionally Present?

Do you feel overwhelmed with feelings, to the point where you no longer feel in control of your actions?

Do you keep busy to distract yourself from feeling?

Can you communicate what you are feeling right now, emotionally and physically through your body?

Your emotions are a form of communication between spirit, soul, mind and body.  They are unique to your human experience.  How you feel, relate, and express your emotions is linked to your second energy centre, the sacral chakra. When your first chakra is stable, then your second chakra will have a strong foundation upon which to develop.  You feel connected to your own feelings and those of others.  If you are exposed to emotionally volatile environments, or a lack of emotional engagement at an early age, then you may have learned to jump past your feelings to avoid discomfort.  As an adult, you may think you are in touch with your emotions, but in actuality you are not feeling them.  Rather you  use logic to “think” your emotions.  Your feelings are pushed down, and you are likely unaware of this pattern.  You may feel disconnected from other highly emotional people, whether they cry easily or are prone to anger outbursts. You may look to food, alcohol or another addiction to either help you feel your feelings or numb them more.

meditation for emotions, port moodyEmotions are like waves of energy that have an ebb and flow.  Like the ocean, emotions can be calm or stormy.  When you connect to your own feelings, both emotionally and where you physically experience them, you are aligning spirit, with mind, body and soul.  That physical gut feeling, weight in your heart, lump in your throat, are all symptoms of feelings to include anger and sadness.   Your soul is calling attention to a need to feel, to express that feeling and to receive acknowledgment.  When afraid, your emotions are held back by judgment and doubt.

To develop your emotions on a soul level, tune into the physical feelings,  and the thoughts that want to override.  Change just one pattern and you open yourself to a refreshingly rich emotionally stable experience.  Rather than focus on the other person, or keep busy avoiding, slow down and tune into your own inner landscape and allow  yourself to hear and feel.

It can be exhausting at first, but will liberate your soul!
