Common Signs of Anger & Reducing Stress

Stress is experienced physically & emotionally by the demands or pressures placed on an individual from external circumstances. These include heavy workloads, financial worries, family demands and emotional/societal expectations. Every individual deals with stress in their own way. Some people have to move or exercise to feel some relief, while others want solitude, peace and quiet. Others look for external satisfaction such as drinking, eating, shopping or spending extra time on social media.

3 common signs of stress

  1. Irritability
  2. Anxiety
  3. Depression

These signs of stress all have one emotion in common – Anger. Anger can be explosive or unexpected, and it can be quiet and passive. Both ways of expressing or not expressing cause an individual to feel unhappy. Because feeling unhappy, or angry or depressed is so uncomfortable, most people circle back to keeping busy, exercise, or looking to that external satisfaction. We all do it in some way or another, so don’t lose hope!

Common Emotional Signs of Anger:
• Irritated
• Resentful
• Anxious
• Depressed or sad
• Lost your sense of humour
• Sarcastic
• Beginning to raise your voice

Positive Side of Anger
While the symptoms listed above may feel like they are negative, it is more important to recognize they are red flags about your own emotions. When you are feeling irritated it isn’t wrong or bad. Instead it is the result of something within your soul that is unhappy and wants to be heard, healed and transformed. Imagine what the world would be like if every individual recognized this symptom and knew what to do to transform anger into love and peace.
