3 Common Types of Meditation

With so many ways to meditate it can be hard to know where to begin!  Here is a list of the most common types of meditation.

1 Conscious & Mindful Meditations include:

Each of these meditation types is based on self-awareness, self-reflection and transformation. The RESULT of practicing these types of meditation is clarity, focus, calm and the ability to transfrom from within. 
 
Most people arrive at this type of meditation when they realize nothing will change until they change. They are aware most relaxation and visualization techniques are temporary.
2 Relaxation & Visualization Meditations include:
  1. Guided Visualization.
  2. Yoga Nidra
 
These type of meditations are where most people begin. It is a wonderful way to get the body and mind to relax, to feel better, and to sleep. It guides you often away from the physical discomfort to experience immediate relief.
 
This is different from conscious, reflective and mindful meditations which journey inwards to transform. A balance of relaxation, visualization and consciousness is a wonderful way to integrate meditation into your life.
3 Moving Meditations include:
  1. Yoga
  2. Walking mindfully
  3. Journalling
These meditation integrate the union of mind, body and soul through movement.  You feel more connected to your meditation practice in stillness with movement.  For many people, moving physically helps reduce excessive thinking and calms the mind better. 
There are many types of yoga making it easier to find one for your specific needs including if you have physical restrictions. Many people begin with yoga and often find their way to meditation.  We added journalling into this category beacuse you are moving your hand to discover inner potentials through self-awareness.
