Healing Grief & Loss

Meditation for Letting Go –  Grief & Loss

…Grief is a natural response to loss and letting go. There is no such thing as a wrong way or right way to grieve.  Grief is how we allow ourselves to experience deep sadness and sorrow through mourning.

Quiet losses, such as a lost pregnancy for both male and female, are less likely to be acknowledged, as are job losses, items, or dreams associated with life.  We all share losses, primary and secondary in different areas of our life, and it is important that we acknowledge our feelings as they arise.  Our feelings may arise unexpectedly, perhaps with a delayed time frame,  to include sadness and depression, often leaving us wondering if something is wrong with us.  It is important to acknowledge feelings of loss in the moment, to feel and express them and understand grief is a natural part of life…and work.

Grief is not limited to the initial loss. Loss is experienced in layers.  When we lose a loved one, we grieve the absence of them physically, their touch, voice, and things they did.  When someone dies, the relationship changes, and we are alone.  The absence is experienced on many layers, emotionally, intellectually and physically.

  • Grief is a process.  It is more than letting go.  Understanding with gentle encouragement is needed.
  • Grief is healing the void, the painful ache within the heart.
  • Grief is experienced by everyone at some point in their life.
