Even though we have beautiful clear skies, it is sometimes hard to see clearly. Maintaining focused clarity becomes clouded when emotions are running high, especially when fear driven. The heart and head connection becomes imbalanced, moving from one to the other leaving an individual feeling confused and anxious.
Emotions are a beautiful part of our human experience. However, emotions are fleeting and they will try to own you.
We are in the midst of change, where uncertainty and stress is bringing up emotions that may have been easier to disperse through activities that are no longer easily available. These include shopping, going out for dinner, gathering and socializing, and attending your favourite fitness, yoga or meditation class. We feel a longing to be connected to our space and people away from home. We begin to wonder how the others are coping. You are extending caring towards the well-being of others.
Focused clarity is the ability to see without judgment, and to not be easily influenced, especially emotionally. Being Centered allows you to experience the moment with profound presence and awareness, connecting to all that is unfolding around you. Ultimately, this allows you to be of service to the well-being of all while seeing the bigger picture.
Emotions can interfere with this process. They can cloud your perspective as you may feel sorry for others, or guilty because you are not as affected by the covid-19 crisis. You don’t even realize you are not fully centered, and you feel a strong desire to be helpful. This becomes confusing as you are emotionally influenced. Emotions can motivate you into action, such as doing or buying something that makes you feel good. But things are not always as they appear to be.
These past weeks I have witnessed businesses making major life changing decisions to stabilize their businesses, watching an outpouring of support. One business posted all they need is twelve meal orders a day to survive. They asked for only what they need so there is still enough for others. I love this karmic connection. Businesses are creating a ‘together’ approach offering a selection of services/pricing taking into consideration the needs of those struggling financially. There is a desire to genuinely help each other out in a community of caring.
How is this connected to Focused Clarity, Centering and Truth?
Well, when you are not centered, then you are easily influenced, especially emotionally. It is hard to see the truth because you don’t want to see it and you are emotionally driven.
When you are not centered you will not see the driving force behind something. An example would be a business that solely offers ‘free’ or by donation options while all other businesses are asking for payments or a combination of payments, donations and free. You will only see the ‘kindness’ or consideration in the free offering. But this is not necessarily what is happening. This is a potential strategy to drive out competitors and gain new customers. It undercuts and devalues what other businesses in the same market are offering, adding an implication that by only offering something free during a crisis they are doing more for the community. We look and say to ourselves, “Wow…look at what they are doing for us during this time of crisis. They are so generous. I will support them”. You don’t realize you are emotionally driven.
If you are still confused consider this example. There are two shoe stores within a block of each other during a recession. One starts to offer ‘free shoes’ with a by donation option. The other business has a buy one get one free option, with other even more reduced deals. Where would you shop? If you picked the free shoes store and left a reasonable donation out of guilt, then you didn’t realize you were contributing to the demise of the other who will likely go out of business and his/her customers will now go to the free store, who will no longer be free. It was all emotionally driven and you didn’t see it.
So, as we venture into life with a clear perspective that everyone is doing the best they can, we are wise to also be open hearted and open minded to look beyond the obvious. If it’s too good to be true, and different from the rest, then it likely is not what it appears to be. Don’t believe everything you see or feel.
A business of integrity, especially during a crisis, will support other businesses by offering realistic options…a balance of free for those in need and paying for those who can. We are free to choose. Choose truth.
That’s my perspective…my karma is writing about it.
Let your heart lead, not your emotions.
Be Centered. Be Present. Spread love. Create good karma.
