Want to Create Inner Peace
Inner peace is the core of your existence. It is the vast stillness of the universe and it is inside you. But at times you find yourself deeply affected by an external event which leaves you feeling rattled and anything but peaceful, like an unexpected bill, broken down car, or something someone did or said that left you feeling angry or hurt. Let’s take a look at ways to improve feeling peaceful.
There are ways you can create and maintain inner peace. Consider focusing on the breath, so you inhale and exhale mindfully allowing your body to relax and your mind to become still. Notice how easy it is to breathe when you are peaceful. You don’t need to focus on anything other than being, and you are drawn to the beauty of your surroundings.
Ever notice how monks (and certain people) have a serene smile and you get a feeling of peace? This is likely accomplished through regular meditation. The good news is you don’t need to be a monk or have to travel to an exotic country to feel peaceful. But taking a trip with the intention to grow inner peace is always nice too.
The secret to creating inner peace is to feed your soul regularly with whatever makes you feel peaceful. Take the time to regularly align with your intention so you benefit during times of distress. You may enjoy a walk in nature. You may feel most peaceful sitting beside a fire wrapped in a cozy blanket with your eyes closed.
So what ha
ppens if you have a busy mind?
With practice the thoughts seem to fade into the distance so you feel that inner peace sooner and sooner. The gap between the inhale and exhale becomes longer. In the gap you feel a connection to the vast stillness of the universe because it is inside you.
When you are ready to grow quiet and seek relief from stress then consider taking some meditation classes and moving your body with yoga in conjunction with that walk in nature or quiet time by the fireplace. Ultimately, there will always be events that rattle your world, so imagine how you will be when responding as a peaceful spirit in a human body.
