Therapeutic yoga is a blend of restorative and gentle yoga, and is often infused with breath-work, meditation and ‘hands-on healing’ techniques. It is an excellent choice for those who seek a gentle style of yoga to feel the therapeutic effects of bringing balance into the body, and to experience the stress reducing effects.
Each pose is gentle and can be adapted to a fully supported state. The practice encourages the attitude of acceptance and activates our body’s self-healing abilities -“in its place of comfort is where the healing begins.” In restorative yoga, supported poses are held for a rather long time and are in general more of ‘passive’nature, while the gentle style in ‘therapeutic yoga’ still requires small ‘active’ movements.
