Happy New Year 2023!

Another year ends and a new one begins. I don’t know if you stop to reflect on the last twelve months of your life or not, but I find it grounds me in witnessing my personal and spiritual growth.

My intentional word at the beginning of 2022 was Resilience. I used to get through tough times and spring back with ease and flow.

3 Things to remember

  1. Don’t give up
  2. You are not alone
  3.  You matter

Reflecting on the last year

Sometimes it’s not easy to see the wins. It is hard to live with the loss of those who have passed. There is no road map to guide us through the emotional roller coaster of life. My gratitude lies in knowing I have the love of others to support me as I, in turn, support you on your journey.

I bring up the topic of loss because it is connected to letting go of the old year. Letting go doesn’t mean forgetting or throwing out meaningful memories. Those memories are endearing and can guide you through the next year and years to come.

I reflect on the life of my mother-in-law who passed in May. I was truly blessed to have such a kind, caring and classy second mom. Always well dressed, with lipstick on, she would turn the other cheek, so to speak, for the good of all. I didn’t always agree with this, but I now understand to choose my battles wisely. I know to stand tall and always do my best, and wear lipstick! I share recipes, traditions and memories while making family a priority.

My unexpected ambulance flight to the emergency room last March taught me to use my own spiritual tools. Having never had any medical concerns it was a whole new experience for me. It seems surreal looking back, that it even happened. I got through it by letting go of fear so I could surrender and trust.

There are many other smaller and bigger moments from this past year. Too many to mention in this short article. They will act as guides to creating the next chapter and years of my life.

Show up for yourself as spirit first.

Pause this New Year’s Eve and day to reflect on who you have become today. Focus on how you have grown and the spiritual lessons available to you. You are a new person beginning a new year. Do not linger in questioning the past. Instead open yourself to the infinite possibilities available to you.

Choose wisely

Choose your thoughts wisely, clearing away those that are critical or judgmental. Change those thoughts into positive affirmations.

Keep going

If your dreams for the last year didn’t quite turn out the way you hoped, remember your spiritual plan can be very different from what you thought. Accept your lessons. Get up. Refocus. Change if you must. But keep going.

What was your intentional word for 2022 and what will your word be for 2023?
