Staying Calm and in the Holiday Spirit

December has arrived and so have the holiday festivities! A desire to wait until it was personally appropriate to set out decorations is replaced with a sense of urgency to get everything done. All while enjoying the spirit of the holidays!

Staying calm and making spirits bright becomes easier when you practice ease and flow. Gone are the fear and anxieties created by perfectionism. Back are the joys of creating and sharing the holidays, laughing while creating new memories. (ways to reduce anxiety)

Making space for present moment mindfulness is the key.

Yes, you will experience emotional moments. From sheer joy to gripping loss for what once was. Certain Christmas songs can bring a sense of sentimental joy or sadness. Tears flow. Smiles return.

So, let’s make a point of honouring whatever comes up without lingering in sorrow. If the darkness of what once was envelopes you, call someone and invite their light into your world. Tell them what you’re feeling and ask them to share something wonderful about themselves with you. If they aren’t home or don’t answer, then call someone else.

Holiday Spirit is more than being happy all the time. It calls forth the strength of our souls to come together, to share our lives with each other in keeping spirits bright.
