Mindfulness & Meditation
The outer, material world reflects our inner healing, which is reflected collectively through economic uncertainty. During times of difficulty people hold back from making decisions and purchases as they anticipate potentially more difficult times. On a positive note, people start making more mindful decisions. By actively applying mindfulness to everyday purchases and life choices, we nourish present moment consciousness, and inner peace. The minimalist appears!
Independently, we are all, at some level healing our sense of security and safety as it relates to our income, job, family and health. For many people this is part of their everyday life, living pay cheque to pay cheque, while others learn not take things for granted. Most of this healing resides at the base of our energy system, our root chakra. The most effective way to create balance in your outer world is to nourish your inner world first, through meditation.
I like to think of my meditation as time spent making deposits into my energy account. I like to keep my
account at a certain balance so when life gets really busy, and it’s difficult to find the time to meditate, I know I can draw on my meditation energy account to get me through.
Meditation doesn’t make you a better person or an enlightened person.
Meditation helps you access inner peace and apply peacefulness and mindfulness to life.
The secret to meditation is to understand and experience pure knowledge.
- What do you do first thing in the morning?
- Does your mind race forward to the tasks of the day?
- Do you pick up your cell phone or rush to your computer?
- Do the responsibilities of children and work feel overwhelming and consuming?
- What are you thinking about when you are brushing your teeth and showering?
- Are you in the present moment when you’re working out? What about when you’re driving?
You can actively apply the benefits of meditation into any of the above situations. For example, you could breathe deeply before jumping out of bed, and consciously center and ground yourself. While you’re looking in the mirror, brushing your teeth, combing your hair, or applying your makeup, look into your eyes and hold your own gaze for twenty to thirty seconds and breathe deeply as you tune into the present moment.
Say hello to your spirit and experience clarity, neutrality and peace. Watch the stress melt away. Set an intention to practice peacefulness and mindfulness throughout the day and year.
Let’s meditate our way to living life mindfully, as a peaceful spirit in a human body.
