What is Spirituality?

The definition of spirituality is different for everyone.  Spirituality is not religious or necessarily associated with religion.

Spirituality is the field of awareness we experience as infinite potentiality and creativity.  This field of awareness is intangible, and is experienced through the human self as thoughts, emotions, relationships, and physical well-being.   We are a peaceful spirit having a human experience.  Spirituality can be defined as the relationship you have with yourself as spirit in a human body.

Spirituality is practiced and experienced in different ways.  All are valid and contribute to wholeness.   Not everyone chooses to be conscious of their spirituality.  Some common ways to practice spirituality are through meditation, religion, nature, a higher power, or a mystical experience.

The Spiritual journey generally begins with an awakening, a desire to understand the meaning and purpose, direction, and connectedness of self in the world.   We ask ourselves, why am I here, what do I want, who am I, and who’s listening.  Through self reflection, inner focus and contemplation the relationship with self is one of self-discovery and self healing.  The quest to reach beyond any current limitations is challenged, through one’s spiritual practice, to transcend current beliefs and to better understand ourselves and in relation to others.

One could say spirituality connects us with our soul’s purpose and direction in the world.

What is the difference between Spirit & Soul?

There is only one Spirit, having several human experiences.  Spirit defines your core essence, intention and integrity.

Your soul is the non-physical aspect of your personality.  In some belief systems, the soul is believed to continue to exist after the body dies.
