Believe
– To believe in ourselves requires acceptance and letting go of the limiting thoughts spinning around in the mind. Acceptance is recognizing what is. It means we become aware of what we do not want and what we want. The mind speaks to us seductively and judgmentally, in a convincing, often complicated way. Only with acceptance and believing in ourselves can we make conscious decisions. Yet there is constant background chattering, creating confusion, doubt and fear. It’s a wonder any of us have ever accomplished anything given the number of times a thought repeats itself in our mind – a thought that could well be negative, holding us back, or keeping us small.
In an attempt to believe in ourselves, we may decide we need to act and/or look different. We convince ourselves “Once I look like this, or have this, or do this I can relax and feel more comfortable with believing in myself’. But this never happens, because what we look like and how we act will only give us short term satisfaction. Before we know it, we are once more dissatisfied, doubting ourselves again because we have not practiced acceptance. Believing we are a human being means understanding we may have become a human doing.
Acceptance does not mean we like the way things are. Acceptance allows us to recognize what is, and now we can choose to make changes to reflect our higher self. Now we can begin to believe in ourselves because we are being truthful, accepting we have the power to move mountains.
When we believe in our authentic self we believe we can do anything. As a creative spirit in a human body we find ways to manifest our beliefs. Even when the odds seem to be against us, we accept, and succeed with effortless ease.
What we act or look like does not determine how much we believe in ourselves. What others think of us certainly has no relevance to accepting and believing in ourselves. Our fear of being alone, or separate (different) from others is rooted in us not believing in ourselves as an individual and as a whole.
Believing in ourselves means opening ourselves, to accept our vulnerable self, and the experience of separateness, and to unfold into togetherness without the self-importance of the ego mind. The truth is our ego is aching for support and recognition, and we can choose to not support this limiting way of being, to step out of the box.
The ego mind tries to convince us that self-concern is more important than self-awareness. Yet awareness of an inner struggle is us witnessing the ego mind providing ‘logical reasons’ why we shouldn’t accept or believe in ourselves. We are a human, being present as the witness, aware of the ego mind/body relationship. Now we can consciously choose to accept ourselves and our thoughts to reflect believing in our higher self.
It is not enough for others to believe in us. We must believe in ourselves.
Believe in your self and anything is possible.
