Self-Reflections & Mirrors – Sept. 2012

Self- Reflection & Mirrors

When we open ourselves to connect with others, to expand our awareness of self as a peaceful spirit in a human body, we understand we are all one, finding our way to inner peace.  Each of us has a story based on our life experiences, and every detail of our life is part of an intricate tapestry of connectedness and wholeness. Our job is to nurture our light, the spirit within, relating to ourselves and others with love.

Our awareness grows (develops) based on our intention, karma, and desires.   As we journey through life we will confront parts of ourselves that may be difficult to accept.  At the core of our existence we already know this part of self exists as a means to grow and expand.  We can choose to live in denial, to focus our attention on others or the events that have led to the way we feel, or we can accept that we are unhappy or uncomfortable.    Accepting does not mean we have to like the way things are.  Accepting means finding peace with what is, and taking action to change from within.  We may be in denial that we are powerful beyond measure.

Self-reflection is associated with the sixth chakra, our ability to see clearly past the illusion (denial). When we look into our eyes in a mirror, and we pause to really look (almost stare), we see beyond the physical illusion.  Truth reflects back to us with love and understanding.  We see the parts of ourselves that we are healing, and while we may be sad, or frightened, we will also see enthusiasm, contentment and hope.  Whatever we see is supported by brilliance beyond words.  This is love.

We can make this connection with ourselves every day when we wash our face in the morning.  While preparing for the day, we can look deep within eyes, ourselves, and make affirmations to support our personal growth.

The next time you look into the mirror and see or hear negative thoughts, look deeper to truth.  You are a brilliant light of love, finding your way through a human experience, just like everyone else.  Let’s come together in this simple daily ritual to collectively heal.   May you be filled with Light, Laughter and Love.
